"Additive manufacturing with LUNOVU LMD - as simple as operating a milling machine."
Added value created by machine intelligence
For LUNOVU, Additive Manufacturing does not only mean a revolutionary novel manufacturing technology, but also an added value for its user. A value that is generated through intelligent digital process chains. This is what makes our LMD/DED machine systems so special. Together with our customers we can solve complex manufacturing tasks in a much more economical way than before. In many cases we can even find disruptive new solutions, paving the way towards entirely new applications and products.
You have the ideas. We'll take care of the rest.
Additive Manufacturing means thinking in new directions. As a user, you know exactly your applications – laser cladding, parts repair or building complex 3D structures with LMD/DED. What you need are reliable and robust machines that help you focusing on demanding AM projects.
LUNOVU LMD systems use proprietary algorithms and latest sensor technology to provide machine intelligence exactly in the way you need it. Parts of almost unlimited nature, size and shape are optically recognized and digitized in LUNOVU machines. Based on the digital models, tailored software modules calculate 3D toolpaths automatically for a large variety of applications, supported by an intuitive user interface. External CAD data can be loaded as target geometries as well. This way, complex LMD processes can be prepared and executed without errors in shortest time. In many cases even without editing a single line of CNC or robotic code. All process steps are performed in a single, seamless software environment.
The advantage is obvious. You don’t need to waste your time with routine procedures which can be quickly and reliably carried out by the machine. This way you can focus on relevant things – such as thinking about new ideas.
LIPA-virtual trade fair and conference by LASER.region.AACHEN
On Friday, June 11, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., the LIPA virtual laser trade fair will take place for the first time. In compact specialist lectures interesting information about laser technology and its possible applications will be provided. A virtual exhibition center can also be visited. The event is primarily aimed at companies looking for laser technology solutions for their individual applications.
The LASER.region.AACHEN is a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The alliance provides a network of leading universities and research institutions with companies in the field of laser technology and suppliers.
LUNOVU expands application center
LUNOVU is currently expanding its LMD/DED application center. Construction work has already begun, driven by fast growing business and new application areas. The aim is to focus even better on different applications such as additive manufacturing, laser cladding or wear protection. Additional LMD/DED machine systems (CNC and robot types) will be installed over the next few months to advance machine and process development, develop customer-specific processes, and perform application demonstrations and training for customers. In addition, facilities for metallographic analysis will be set up for rapid quality control of the materials manufactured with LMD/DED.
LUNOVU develops EHLA process
Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology in Aachen and other industrial partners, LUNOVU has developed a novel process chain for the efficient coating of large parts such as rollers. The development was carried out within the joint R&D project EVEREST. Using the EHLA (Extremes Hochgeschwindigkeits Laser-Auftragschweissen / Extreme High Speed Laser Cladding) process, parts could be coated in a very resource efficient way, using a speed of up to 200 meters per minute. The processes have been developed at the LUNOVU application center.
