For LUNOVU, Additive Manufacturing does not only mean a revolutionary novel manufacturing technology, but also an added value for its user. Together with our customers we can solve complex manufacturing tasks in a much more economical way than before. Additive Manufacturing means thinking in new directions. As a user, you know exactly your applications – laser cladding, parts repair or building complex 3D structures with LMD/DED. What you need are reliable and robust machines that help you focusing on demanding AM projects.  
LUNOVU LMD systems use proprietary algorithms and latest sensor technology to provide machine intelligence exactly in the way you need it. Parts of almost unlimited nature, size and shape are optically recognized and digitized in LUNOVU machines. Based on the digital models, tailored software modules calculate 3D toolpaths automatically for a large variety of applications, supported by an intuitive user interface. External CAD data can be loaded as target geometries as well. This way, complex LMD processes can be prepared and executed without errors in shortest time.  In many cases even without editing a single line of CNC or robotic code. All process steps are performed in a single, seamless software environment. 

The advantage is obvious. You don’t need to waste your time with routine procedures which can be quickly and reliably carried out by the machine. This way you can focus on relevant things – such as thinking about new ideas.

LUNOVU develops EHLA process

Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology in Aachen and other industrial partners, LUNOVU has developed a novel process chain for the efficient coating of large parts such as rollers. The development was carried out within the joint R&D project EVEREST. Using the EHLA (Extremes Hochgeschwindigkeits Laser-Auftragschweissen / Extreme High Speed Laser Cladding) process, parts could be coated in a very resource efficient way, using a speed of up to 200 meters per minute. The processes have been developed at the LUNOVU application center.

Foundry Intitute in Aachen Develops Novel Material Systems with LUNOVU LMD

The renowned Foundry Institute at the RWTH Aachen in Germany has put a new LUNOVU LMD system into operation. Sited at its new premises, Research Center for Digital Photonics Production (RCDPP), the Laser Material Deposition (LMD) system is designed to suit the special requirements of the foundry institute. A hermetically sealed inert gas chamber (glove box) is used for contamination free processes. Additionally, it combines powder and wire-based laser cladding processes.
